Telangana Weather: Following a week of nonstop heat, Telangana witnessed a sharp change in the weather, with rain and hailstorms lowering temperatures in numerous districts. The IMD has issued a warning regarding hail, lightning, and strong winds.

On the other hand, Velgatoor in Jagtial district registered a record high of 47.1°C, the highest temperature recorded in the state this year, according to the TS Development Planning Society.

Despite the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast for rain starting in the evening of May 6, Nalgonda and Suryapet were caught off guard as early indicators of change emerged. Residents in Khammam, Mahbubabad, and Jangaon reported sudden and intense downpours accompanied by hailstorms.

Tragically, in the former Warangal district, now undivided, two farmers fell victim to lightning strikes. Basha Bullayya, aged 46, from Eturunagaram, and 39-year-old Dasari Ajay from Raghunathpalli, lost their lives along with Ajay’s cow. The deluge also wreaked havoc on grain stocks at procurement centers in Eturunagaram, adding to the woes of the agricultural community.

During the rainfall, a significant section of a slab at Garla railway station in Mahbubabad district collapsed.
