Telangana-Congress Manifesto: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge released the party’s manifesto on Friday, giving a detailed overview of several significant commitments and plans in advance of the next Telangana Assembly elections. Among the highlights of the manifesto are the promises to create 2 lakh jobs, give away free electric scooters to female students, give brides a 1-tula Gold gift (equivalent to 10 grams), and waive a sizable 2 lakh crop loans. The Telangana Manifesto contains important ideas such as giving Hindu brides 1 lakh and ten grams of gold as the Indiramma gift, Rs. 1,60,000 for minority girls at the time of their marriage, and electric scooters for all young women above the age of 18 who are pursuing education. In addition, the manifesto pledges to eliminate crop loans totaling two lakhs immediately upon taking office, fill backlog positions for SC, ST, BC, and Minority groups, and fill two lakh government jobs in the first year of office.
To keep its word to the voters of Telangana, Congress earlier released specific declarations that emphasized youth, farmers, and SC/ST communities. Six pledges were made to Telangana by the party, led by Sonia Gandhi. These included free transportation for women in TSRC buses throughout the state, gas cylinders at Rs. 500, and monthly financial assistance of Rs. 2,500 for women under the Mahalakshmi scheme. To achieve the goals of the Telangana people, Sonia Gandhi reaffirmed the party’s dedication to keeping each of these promises.
