Sitharaman highlighted the remarkable rise in the state’s GST revenue when he announced the foundation-laying ceremony for GST Bhavan in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. She mentioned that the Tirupati Commissionerate received ₹8,264 crore in GST revenue in FY23 and ₹5,019 crore between April and September 2023. She attributed the increase to industries like automotive battery, cement, and passenger car manufacturing. – AP’s GST
In October, there was a significant increase in the national trend of GST collection, which culminated in a 10-month high of ₹1.72 lakh crore. Consistent with this pattern, Andhra Pradesh demonstrated a strong yearly increase in post-settlement GST proceeds of 12% between April and October 2023.
The announcement made by the Finance Minister shows how committed the government is to using technology—like biometric Aadhaar authentication—to improve security and efficiency in tax-related procedures.
