Deep fake problematic: On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a virtual speech at the Voice of Global South Summit. He said that using artificial intelligence to produce deepfakes is problematic and urged the media to inform the public.
Deepfake is a serious problem, and during the Voice of the Global South Summit’s opening session, the Prime Minister stated, “I asked the ChatGPT team to include a deepfake warning in content.”

India believes that new technology should not widen the divide between the Global North and the Global South, he said. Technology must be used responsibly in the age of artificial intelligence. The artificial Global Partnership Summit will be held in India next month to further promote this.
This is the time when the countries of the Global South should unite for the greater global good, said Modi, the Prime Minister of India.
He also stated that the topic of the Global South was included in the G20 Declaration in New Delhi and that India’s priority was to make the G20 inclusive and human-centric.
He stated that during the year, India prioritized the priorities of the Global South in over 200 G20 meetings held across the country.
Last December, when India accepted the G20 presidency, we saw it as our responsibility to raise the voice of the Global South. Our top priority was to make the G20 more inclusive and human-centered. We attempted to focus the G20 on the development of the people, by the people, and for the people. We organized the Voice of the Global South Summit for the first time in January this year with this goal in mind, PM Modi said.
The Second Voice of Global South Summit is being conducted virtually. The main objective of the Second Voice of the Global South Summit would be to disseminate to the Global South’s nations the significant results attained in the G20 sessions during India’s presidency.
