After India’s T20I series loss to the West Indies, Ashwin shared a crucial lesson but did not use Hardik’s name. Instead, he cited great India MS Dhoni.
Social media may be negative. An view can be changed with the wink of an aye without taking much time to develop. Hardik Pandya, the captain of India’s 20-man national team, is the most recent casualty. After the series loss to West Indies, the all-rounder received harsh criticism for his remarks. A one-off loss “doesn’t matter,” according to Hardik, who during the ODI series had said that he wouldn’t mind becoming the only one to lose a series after 17 years.West Indies defeated India in the fifth and final T20I to win the series 3-2 a long time later. After the game in Florida, Hardik observed, “In hindsight, one series here or there doesn’t matter, but the commitment to the goal is important.” He added that one shouldn’t make too much of this series loss because the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA is still a long way off.
Ravichandran Ashwin, another member of Hardik’s side, disagreed. On his YouTube channel, he stated, “I don’t think it is too early (to discuss about the T20 World Cup). Although he acknowledged that it might be challenging for young players to tour in the Caribbean islands, Ashwin agreed that losing a series to West Indies was frustrating.
“This T20I series has produced a lot of benefits. Since they lost against a side that didn’t make it to the most recent T20 World Cup, it is relatively simple to criticize the team on social media. Additionally, they have not yet qualified for the 2018 50-over World Cup. I’d want to share some facts with you folks.
“I don’t support, speak for, or back anyone. These are all auxiliary. The West Indies will provide some difficulties for a young person traveling there. There are certain innate secrets in every nation. These facts are more familiar to local players than to visitors. particularly if the players are young,” Ashwin remarked.
Ashwin: “Dhoni and a few coaches told me…”
(WI supporters) Credit to West Indies, the all-rounder said, for the valiant series victory. They weren’t invited to the ODI and T20 World Cups. Their entire island appeared dejected as a result. They discussed the extensive legacy they formerly had. In fact, I learned how obsessively they watch the game from a cab driver. Even now, they have irrational devotion for the sport.
While without using Hardik’s name, Ashwin used the words of renowned Indian cricketer MS Dhoni to impart a valuable lesson. “MS Dhoni and a few of my coaches have emphasized that losing is a great teacher. However, champions are made of those who continue to learn even after a victory.
Ashwin also highlighted the positives and areas for concern for Team India in T20s. He gave special mentions to Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and the opening combination of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. As far as the major issue for India’s T20 side is concerned, Ashwin pointed towards the lack of depth in the batting department.
India’s tail effectively began from No.8 in the T20I series against the West Indies with Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mukesh Kumar as the bowling options. This lack of depth in the batting unit was also one of the major reasons behind India’s loss in the first T20I.
