Rahul Gandhi: “I do not want to name names, but a major official from this state has quit Congress. Weeping, he informed my mother, ‘Sonia-ji, I’m ashamed to say that I lack the strength to confront this people, this force. “I don’t want to go to jail.” Rahul Gandhi said:

Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leader, finished the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra in Mumbai today with some digs at adversaries and former friends. While the heavy artillery was saved for the BJP, a senior leader, believed to be Ashok Chavan, who had recently joined the BJP, received special attention.

Mr. Gandhi subtly implied that the former Maharashtra Chief Minister and MP had switched sides to evade scrutiny from central investigation agencies, without explicitly naming him.

“We’re fighting against a powerful force. Now the question is, what is that power? “The soul of a king is in the EVMs, ED (Enforcement Directorate), CBI, and income tax,” Mr Gandhi told a large gathering in Mumbai.

“I do not want to name names, but a major official from this state has quit Congress. Weeping, he informed my mother, ‘Sonia-ji, I’m ashamed to say that I lack the strength to confront this people, this force. “I don’t want to go to jail.” He said

The Congress has renewed the “washing machine” charge against the BJP after Mr Chavan switched sides last month, following another important politician, Milind Deora.

The State Congress chief, Nana Patole, with whom he had significant disagreements, stated that the mention of the Adarsh scam in a White Paper presented in parliament was the reason behind it.

Mr. Chavan faces three pending cases, two of which are related to the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society.

In 2000, when Mr. Chavan was the state’s minister of revenue, the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society was purportedly the recipient of an illegitimate land allocation in Colaba.

The veteran leader has attributed differences with the Congress as his reason for departing from the party.
