NDA Government Formation LIVE: President Droupadi Murmu of India is expected to extend an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to form the government today. Earlier, PM Modi addressed the NDA Parliamentary meeting, where he was elected as the leader of the alliance. At the start of the meeting, senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh proposed Narendra Modi’s name as the leader of BJP and the National Democratic Alliance in Lok Sabha, a decision supported by BJP leader Amit Shah.
Following Modi’s election as the leader of the NDA, senior members of the alliance such as TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U)’s Nitish Kumar are scheduled to accompany the prime minister for a meeting with President Droupadi Murmu. They will present her with the list of parliamentarians supporting him and stake claims to form the government.
The swearing-in ceremony for Narendra Modi’s third consecutive term as Prime Minister is expected to take place on June 9, with several global leaders invited to attend the event.
On Thursday, the Chief Election Commissioner and his team met with the President and presented her with the list of newly elected members.
In the meantime, the JD(U) has requested a review of the Agniveer scheme, while the TDP has demanded at least three to four cabinet positions in the Modi 3.0 government.
