Nara Lokesh as IT Minister: Historical Challenges Ahead

Nara Lokesh: While Nara Lokesh is no stranger to the IT ministry, having held the portfolio between 2014 and 2019, he faces his most significant challenge this term. There is a prevailing impression that the previous YCP government deterred potential investors over the last five years. Lokesh will now need to erase this image and restore the business-friendly reputation that Andhra Pradesh once had.

While Lokesh won the “Skoch Person Of The Year” award in 2018 for his exemplary work in the IT sector, this success did not translate into electoral victory, as he lost the subsequent election. However, this time, Lokesh has the clear backing of Mangalagiri voters and the responsibility to prove himself on the big stage.

Lokesh has a strong track record of bringing significant investments to Andhra Pradesh’s IT sector during his tenure from 2014 to 2019, as evidenced by the multiple central government awards he received. This term, he will need to exceed these achievements.

To begin with, Andhra Pradesh must already be seeing improvements by transitioning from “Kodi Guddu” IT minister Gudivada Amarnath to the hardworking and imaginative Nara Lokesh.

Today, Lokesh assumed his role as the IT minister of Andhra Pradesh and signed the mega DSC file to hire 16,347 candidates, which will be presented to the cabinet today. He started his tenure with this significant file, and over the next five years, he will need to sign many more such impactful files to make his mark irrevocable.
