Arvind Kejriwal: The Delhi High Court has temporarily suspended the bail granted to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case connected to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy. This action was prompted by an urgent plea from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which argued that it did not have sufficient time to oppose the bail and criticized the trial court’s ruling. The court’s suspension of Kejriwal’s release will remain in place until it hears and adjudicates on the ED’s appeal to overturn the lower court’s decision. In response, Kejriwal’s legal team characterized the lower court’s decision as a discretionary one made following due process.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was granted regular bail in the money laundering case by the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday. The bail was approved by vacation judge Nyay Bindu upon the submission of a bail bond worth ₹1 lakh, despite objections from the ED.
The ED had asked the court to postpone the bail bond proceedings by 48 hours to allow them to challenge the order in the High Court. However, the court rejected this request and clarified that the bail order remained unaffected and had not been stayed.
