OMG 2

Gadar 2 and OMG 2 will compete at the box office in just 6 days. So far, the Sunny Deol-led action movie has outperformed the Akshay Kumar starrer in terms of pre-release excitement and advance booking. The recently released trailer, on the other hand, is generating some positive attention. So, let’s take a closer look at how much of an influence it had on the film’s first day!

The Oh My God sequel, directed by Amit Rai, has been fraught with controversy. It all started when it was revealed that the censor board had granted the picture a ‘A’ certificate owing to a subject relating to s*x education. Many others are calling for a boycott because Akshay Kumar is purportedly playing God in human form, which they find repulsive.

Returning to the trailer, it portrays OMG 2 as a film riding on solid substance and a must-see satire on India’s education system. This one, like the previous, appears to be filled with an equal amount of humour, counterbalancing the hard-hitting drama quotient. The presence of Yami Gautam, Pavan Malhotra, and Arun Govil, in addition to Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi, adds to the intrigue.

The trailer for OMG 2 does not give you a massy vibe, but it does promise to be a worthwhile viewing. While the film has received little attention, the trailer has provided it enough traction to overcome the strong undercurrent that Gadar 2 is experiencing. Despite a clash on August 11th, this Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi film is estimated to gross between 12-15 crores on day one in India.

It’s not massive, but considering Akshay Kumar’s recent bad form, OMG 2 is off to a respectable start. In fact, it hopes to earn five times the amount earned by Selfiee on its first day (2.55 crores).
