Volvo has debuted the C40 Recharge in India. It is the Swedish automaker’s second all-electric model, positioned above the XC40 Recharge.

The C40 Recharge is powered by the same dual-motor electric powertrain as the XC40 Recharge. It produces 402 BHP and 660 Nm and employs a 78 kWh battery pack with a maximum range of 530 km (WLTP cycle).

The Volvo C40 Recharge is a five-seat SUV. The car will be available in India in September 2023. The Volvo C40 Recharge will compete with the EQB, EV6, and i4. Prices are expected to begin at 60 lakh.

Features: The C40 Recharge comes standard with a vertically oriented 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google Android OS-powered built-in apps and services, as well as a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. It also has front seats that are electrically adjustable (heated and cooled), dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system.

Charging: Volvo’s coupe-styled electric SUV can accommodate up to 150kW of DC fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 27 minutes.

Electric Motor, Battery and Range: The C40 Recharge uses the same 78kWh battery pack as the XC40 Recharge, but claims a longer WLTP range of 530km. The engine is coupled to a dual electric motor all-wheel drive (AWD) arrangement that produces 408PS and 660Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.

Seating Capacity: It’s a five-seat electric SUV-coupe.

Safety: It has seven airbags, hill hold and descent control, and a 360-degree camera as part of its safety package. This car also has a full range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control, front collision avoidance and mitigation, lane keeping aid, blind spot monitoring with cross traffic alert, and rear cross traffic alert.

Rivals: The Volvo C40 Recharge competes with the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, BMW i4 and its sibling, the XC40 Recharge.

Price: Volvo may charge Rs 60 lakh for the C40 Recharge.
