On Friday, the BJP posted the first photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi meditating at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Tamil Nadu’s Kanniyakumari, the country’s southernmost tip. PM Modi began meditating on Thursday evening and will do so till Saturday evening.

PM Modi, dressed in a saffron shirt, shawl, and dhoti, is seen meditating and wandering around the Dhyan Mandapam complex, which was where philosopher Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892. This comes after he completed his rigorous campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.

As part of his meditation practice, PM Modi performed ‘Surya Arghya’ at sunrise, a spiritual practice rite including salutations to the Almighty manifested in the shape of the sun and prayers with folded hands.

The BJP released a short video clip titled ‘Sunrise, Surya Arghya, Spirituality’ in which PM Modi pours water from a traditional, beaker-like tiny vessel into the sea as an offering (Arghya) and prays with his prayer beads.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi arrived at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and began his 45-hour meditation. According to insiders, the Prime Minister’s meditation began at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.

PM Modi would follow a liquid diet during the meditation period, including coconut water, grape juice, and other liquids, according to reports.

PM Modi’s spiritual retreat comes as the Lok Sabha election campaign concludes.

After arriving in Kanniyakumari, the Prime Minister went straight to the Bhagavathi Amman shrine and prayed.
