Russia-Ukraine War: According to HUR, “Special units on watercraft” arrived on the shore near the communities of Olenivka and Mayak.

According to the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) of the defense ministry, Ukraine’s navy and military intelligence conducted a “special operation” overnight in which units landed on Crimea, which is held by Russia.

The operation would be a rare demonstration of Ukrainian forces’ ability to conduct ground operations in Crimea, which Russia captured and annexed in 2014. Reuters was unable to independently confirm the operation.

A short clip of dark video that was uploaded along with the statement showed a small motorboat navigating across water close to a coastline at night. According to HUR, the landing site was close to the communities of Olenivka and Mayak on the westernmost part of Crimea.

In a statement, HUR noted that “Special units on watercraft landed on the shore in the area of the Olenivka and Mayak settlements.”t

Without mentioning the objectives, it stated that “all goals” had been accomplished and that the adversary had suffered casualties.

It added that “the state flag flew again in Ukrainian Crimea,” but it didn’t specify where or give any further information.

Despite the fact that Russia has shown no signs of giving up on the peninsula, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy promised to terminate the Russian occupation of Crimea on Wednesday.

A Russian military pilot’s Mi-8 helicopter was reportedly lured into landing at a Ukrainian airfield on purpose on Wednesday, according to a report from Ukraine’s military intelligence.
