Two days before the MP and Chhattisgarh elections, the Congress has questioned the timing of the release of the PM-Kisan installment.

The 15th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, which benefits 8 crore farmers nationwide, was made available by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. The ₹18,000 crore sum was made available to farmers in advance of the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh state assembly elections.

In October of last year, the scheme’s yearly installment was made available. Inquiring about the schedule of the installments, Congressman Jairam Ramesh hinted at a possible “intentional delay” by the federal government to coincide with state assembly elections.

PM Modi transferred the fifteenth installment on Wednesday during a Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebration in the Khunti region of Jharkhand. By pressing a button, the PM electronically moved the funds to the farmers’ bank accounts.

The 15th installment is being issued today, coinciding with the elections that are scheduled to take place in Telangana in 15 days, in 10 days in Rajasthan, and in 2 days in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Rajasthan in ten days; is this a deliberate delay?” wrote in Hindi on X, the erstwhile Twitter, for Jairam Ramesh.

Jairam Ramesh pointed out in his X post that August 1, 2020, saw the publication of the sixth installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. On August 9, 2021, the ninth installment was made available. However, on October 17, 2022, the 12th installment was made available.

“Today, or November 15, 2023, is the arrival of the fifteenth installment under PM-Kisan. The 15th installment is being released today, he stated in his post on X, “Now that elections are scheduled to take place in Telangana in 15 days, in 10 days in Rajasthan, and in two days in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
