RAMESHWARAM CAFE BLAST

New CCTV footage has surfaced, showing the suspect wearing a white cap and mask, carrying a shoulder bag, and coming towards the cafe.

Yesterday, the authorities identified the suspect based on CCTV evidence. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar identified him as a young man around 28 to 30. He walked away, leaving the bag beside a tree next to the cafe. After one hour, the blast occurred.

The hotel’s floor manager reported to the police that he noticed an individual leaving a suspicious bag at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Cops also discovered a timer and other IED components from the blast site in Whitefield. The forensic report to confirm the method of the blast is yet to be released.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that police had information that the suspect arrived at the location on a BMTC bus. “We have formed multiple teams. We obtained some proof from CCTV footage. When the explosion occurred, a BMTC bus was moving in that direction. We have information that he arrived via bus. “We will arrest the accused as soon as possible,” the minister stated.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has launched an investigation and case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Explosive Substances Act. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the event alongside the Bengaluru Police. Seven to eight teams have been formed, with senior officials stating that the top goal is to uncover the guilty as soon as possible.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, confirming the nature of the incident as a bomb blast, has pledged a thorough investigation into the matter. The explosion, which occurred between 12:50 pm and 1 pm on Friday, resulted in injuries to 10 individuals. He appealed to opposition parties not to politicize the issue and emphasized the importance of cooperation from all quarters in resolving the matter effectively.

The opposition BJP demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra requested a thorough investigation, saying, “The government’s callousness in downplaying such crimes is driving the state into chaos and serving as a haven for antisocial elements.” This incident also demonstrates a failure in police intelligence.
