Nitish Kumar: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has unanimously selected Narendra Modi as its leader, and the party is poised to form a government for a record three times. Nitish Kumar and N Chandrababu Naidu backed the veteran member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the leader of the NDA on Wednesday during the alliance meeting.

While expressing his support for Modi, Nitish Kumar, the supremo of the Janata Dal-United (JDU), advised the BJP leader with two words: “Jaldi Kijiye.”

According to an India Today report, Bihar’s chief minister emphasized the importance of forming the government immediately. There should be no delays in assembling the government. We should do it as soon as possible, Nitish Kumar said, citing sources.

NDA gathering to establish government

The weekend will see the inauguration of the new administration, according to sources cited by PTI. The news source claims that the procedures would be finished swiftly to prevent any lingering doubt that might jeopardize the NDA alliance’s cohesion.

After attending the NDA conference, HAM (Secular) leader and former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi announced that the NDA MPs will get together on June 7 to formally elect Narendra Modi as their leader. They will then present their letters of support to the president.

21 leaders from 16 parties attended the NDA meeting on Wednesday, including N Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the TDP, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, LJP(R) leader Chirag Paswan, JD(S) leader H D Kumarawamy, Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan, AGP leader Atul Bora, and NCP leader Praful Patel.

The NDA partners were praised by acting Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the meeting, who also said that the coalition would “progress and fulfill regional aspirations.””The alliance will “serve the 140 crore people of India and work towards constructing a Viksit Bharat,” he stated.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, the NDA alliance secured 293 seats, surpassing the majority mark 272 in the 543-member House. This victory enabled Modi to be sworn in for a third consecutive term, marking a first for any ruling alliance since 1962.
