AP Municipal and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana has said that, the government of Andhra Pradesh has provided intensive relief measures in the view of the recent floods that has occurred in the Budameru area. He assured that the AP government is fully committed to manage the situation and there is a concerted effort on to ensure that flooding is being controlled within next 48 hours.

In his speech, Minister Narayana tried to comfort the public by saying that authorities are working very actively in order to bring back the normal life as soon as possible. The AP government has gone a long way to making its contributions towards the cause though mobilization of resources and swift action with being functional cooperation with other related agencies to extend its assistance for the affected people struggling to rebuild their lives.

Army Deployed to Repair Flood-Damaged Areas

The major intervention include sending the Indian Army for repair and infrastructural support since Budameru, one of the regions mostly affected by flood. The Army says it has now been entrusted with the responsibility of providing water to the Budameru canel which was severely flooded in the latest massive floods.

Later in his statement, the minister in charge Narayana said the priorities at the moment are to rehabilitate the breached section of the embankment to prevent any more flooding.

He said that, he expects the situation to be brought under control within the next 24 hours with the support of both Army and local administration. Minister Narayana also remember previous event when boats were employed for delivering food and other necessities during long rain and floods. He explained that the government has well developed infrastructure of distribution networks which also covers the remote corners. In addition to these food kits, Minister Narayana stated that other essential commodities will also be distributed to affected families. The goal is to address the immediate needs of the victims while working towards a comprehensive recovery plan for the region.
