Kapil Sibal: On Friday, Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud conveyed his sincere congratulations to senior advocate Kapil Sibal for his election as the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA). “Mr. Sibal, I extend my heartiest congratulations to you on behalf of us all for assuming the presidency of the SCBA. We eagerly anticipate your cooperation and that of the executive committee members,” expressed the CJI warmly from the ceremonial bench.
Expressing gratitude to the Chief Justice of India, Sibal remarked, “I am deeply honored to have this opportunity to serve the bar after 22 years. Rest assured, you will receive our full cooperation from our commitment, and that’s our pledge to the bench. It is through this collaboration that we can advance a shared agenda.”

In addition to Sibal, senior advocates Adish C Aggarwala, Pradeep Kumar Rai, Priya Hingorani, and advocates Tripurari Ray and Neeraj Srivastava were contenders for the position of SCBA president.
According to sources, Sibal garnered over 1,000 votes in the elections conducted on Thursday, while Rai received more than 650 votes.
A Harvard Law School graduate, Sibal held the position of additional solicitor general of India from 1989 to 1990. He earned the designation of senior advocate in 1983.
