Joe Biden: Barack Obama supports Joe Biden following a ‘bad’ debate, emphasizing that ‘so much is at stake’ in the fight against Donald Trump

Joe Biden:  Although he conceded that US President Joe Biden performed “badly” in the debate against Donald Trump, former US President Barack Obama maintained his support for Biden.

“Bad debate nights happen. Believe me, I know,” Obama commented on X.

However, this election still pits a person who has dedicated his life to serving the needs of common people against a candidate who is just interested in himself. There is a difference between someone who tells the truth, who is morally upright and will give the American people the straight scoop, and someone who lies through his teeth to further his agenda. That didn’t alter last night, which is why November holds so much importance, Obama wrote.

By the end of the debate, Biden’s quiet, difficult-to-follow speaking style, frequent stumbles, and awkward pauses had left strategists and average voters in the Democratic Party in a state of fear.

Democrats began debating whether or not to replace Biden as the party’s presidential contender in the forthcoming autumn election against the 78-year-old Republican former President Donald Trump in public and private forums as a result of this.

Biden

Despite his lackluster debate performance, Biden made no indication that he would think about withdrawing from the contest.

“I’m aware I’m not a young man, it’s obvious,” Biden remarked at a rally, as reported by Reuters. He added, “I don’t walk as easily as I used to, I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to, and I don’t debate as well as I used to,” while the crowd chanted “Four more years.”

“I wouldn’t be running again if I didn’t wholeheartedly believe I could do this job. The stakes are too high,” Biden stated.

The New York Times editorial board endorsed Biden in 2020 and urged him to withdraw from the race to improve the Democratic Party’s chances of defeating Trump by choosing a different candidate. They suggested that stepping aside from seeking re-election would be the most significant contribution Biden could make at this point.

Biden and Trump’s campaign

Meanwhile, the Biden campaign reported raising $14 million between Thursday and Friday, with a significant surge in donations immediately after the debate. On the other hand, the Trump campaign declared that it would raise $8 million during the debate.

As the oldest American president in history, Biden encountered little opposition during the Democratic Party’s prolonged nomination process and has garnered sufficient support to cement his position as the party’s nominee. Likewise, Trump quickly navigated challenges from within his party earlier in the year, setting the stage for what appears to be a fiercely contested general election campaign.

Should Biden decide to step down, the Democratic Party would have less than two months until its national convention begins on August 19th to choose a new nominee.

This situation could result in a complicated and potentially contentious process, potentially involving figures such as Kamala Harris, the first Black female vice president, along with governors and other officials who have been mentioned as possible replacements.
