Bill Gates and PM Modi: Using artificial intelligence (AI) for the public’s benefit was the main topic of discussion between philanthropist Bill Gates and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The leaders reaffirmed their joint commitment to fields that have the power to improve the environment and the lives of millions of people globally.

“Yes, that was a good moment! Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, “It’s always a pleasure to talk about sectors that will improve our planet and empower millions of people worldwide.

The two also spoke on women-led development, or DPI. The co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, also emphasized the importance of taking the lessons from India and applying them globally.

Meeting with @narendramodi is always motivating, and there was a lot to talk about. We discussed how to use AI for the public good, women-led development, DPI, agriculture, health, and climate adaptation innovation, as well as how the world can learn from India, Bill Gates wrote on X.

The philanthropist and S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, met earlier. On Thursday, the two leaders exchanged books during their meeting.

Later, Jaishankar shared a post on X, showcasing a photograph of himself and Gates posing with the books they exchanged.

Jaishankar wrote, “Had a good book exchange with @BillGates. And a great conversation.”

Bill Gates, who is currently on a trip to India, arrived in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, on Tuesday.

Earlier today, Bill Gates informed ANI that India is a world leader in vaccines, emphasizing ongoing investments in the country for the development of numerous new vaccines.

“I’m upbeat. You know, a lot of the major areas are improving at a rapid pace. Everyone knows that India is the world leader in vaccinations, so we’re investing with our partners here to develop many new vaccines,” he said.

“We’ve seen the emergence of a diagnostics industry stemming from some of the efforts during the pandemic, and we’re also collaborating in that space. The concept of digital connectivity, beginning with Aadhaar and the digital management of bank accounts, is thriving. Now, in agriculture, we observe initiatives such as registering farmers and providing them with advance notifications,” he added.
