YS Sharmila Addresses Media After Congress Meeting in Delhi

YS Sharmila, the Chief of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), addressed the media following a significant Congress party meeting in Delhi. During her briefing, she highlighted that the Congress Working Committee (CWC) had convened in June to assess the outcomes of recent elections. The discussions focused on strategies to reinforce the Congress party’s structure and effectiveness on a national scale.

Nationwide Campaign Preparations

Sharmila emphasized that the Congress party is currently preparing for a major nationwide campaign. She noted that opinions from Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chiefs across various states have been solicited, reflecting the party’s commitment to democratic principles and respect for diverse viewpoints. This inclusive approach, she argued, is a hallmark of the Congress party’s democratic tradition.

Focus on Caste Census and Parliamentary Developments

The discussions at the CWC meeting also covered the proceedings and developments from recent Parliamentary sessions. Sharmila pointed out that the Congress party has been actively addressing the issue of the caste census in Parliament, asserting that the party is dedicated to bringing this crucial issue to the forefront of national discourse.

Criticism of BJP’s Constitutional Allegiance

APCC Chief YS Sharmila was particularly critical of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of undermining the Indian Constitution. She asserted that the Congress is gearing up for widespread protests against the BJP’s perceived unilateral and unconstitutional decisions. According to Sharmila, the BJP has disregarded the sentiments of minorities, particularly through recent amendments to the Waqf Act. She argued that these changes are detrimental to the preservation of Waqf Board properties and have been made without proper consultation or respect for minority communities.

Allegations of Corruption Involving SEBI and Adani

The subject of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and its handling of the Adani Group was another key topic of discussion. Sharmila alleged that SEBI is protecting Adani due to the influence of the Modi government, describing this as a case of corruption and favoritism. She criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly shielding Adani and suggested that the Modi-Adani connection is emblematic of broader issues of corruption within the government.

Plans for Grassroots Struggles and Public Mobilization

Sharmila’s address also included plans for the Congress party to confront what she described as the unconstitutional actions of the BJP. She revealed that the party is planning grassroots-level struggles to address the caste census issue, aiming to mobilize public support and raise awareness at the local level.

Response to BJP’s Governance Claims

In response to BJP’s claims of promoting corruption-free governance, Sharmila challenged these assertions by pointing out that Rahul Gandhi has yet to see substantial action taken against alleged corruption involving Adani and Modi. She suggested that the Modi government’s attempts to protect Adani would eventually falter, and the Congress intends to take this issue directly to the public.

AICC Meeting Focuses on Election Preparations

On the same day, a comprehensive meeting was held at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) office in Delhi. This gathering included AICC general secretaries, state in-charges, and PCC presidents. The focus of the meeting was on election preparations, organizational matters, and various pressing national issues. This large-scale meeting reflects the Congress party’s ongoing efforts to strategize and address critical political challenges as they prepare for future electoral contests and broader organizational activities.
