Rajeev has been linked and labeled in the Ambapuram Agrigold land scam. Subsequent to his arrest, Rajeev stated in media that both the purchase and sale of Agrigold’s land were being done in a lawful way. He complained that the government is coming after him and his family for vengeance, they arrested him with the aim of getting at his father. In the meanwhile, the ACB has raided Jogi Ramesh’s house and further escalating the degree of concern in the case.
Rajeev’s Allegations and Response
Rajeev strongly condemned the government saying that the allegations leveled against him and his family are all fake. He assured the public that the Agrigold issue will be resolved legally but has bitterly complained that the government takes action against the BPP as a form retaliation. While K Venkatrao has played safe in his statement, Jogi Ramesh has cast doubts on the legal aspects of Agrigold lands especially the question whether the Agrigold lands are still under attachment. He complained about the actions of the government and said that his family is under some sort of a special scrutiny. Said Ramesh also that if there is material proof for any wrong doing on his part, he would be ready to accept the consequences.
Escalation of the Agrigold Controversy
The Agrigold controversy escalated when the company’s management filed a complaint against Jogi Ramesh, alleging that he unlawfully acquired land owned by the company’s directors. Agrigold approached the High Court with accusations that Ramesh manipulated records and created fraudulent documents to claim ownership of the lands. The complaint detailed that survey numbers were altered and fake documents were produced to facilitate the illegal acquisition.
CID Investigation and Land Attachment
To these allegations, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has attached some of the lands in Amupuram, Vijayawada owned by Agrigold and registered in the directors’ names. CID’s investigation established that Ramesh had forged documents just to give an impression that he had bought the contentious land before and that he was in lawful possession of the property.
Following these revelations, the government ordered a thorough investigation, uncovering irregularities in the land transactions. As a result, the CID has registered cases under various sections of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Act against nine individuals implicated in the scandal.
Charges and Suspensions
Among those charged, Jogi Rajeev is designated as the primary accused (A1), while Jogi Ramesh’s brother, Venkateswara Rao, is listed as the second accused (A2). The CID has also filed cases against seven additional government employees implicated in the irregularities. This list includes Adusumilli Mohana Ramdasu, Venkata Sitamahalakshmi, Surveyor Dedeepya, Mandal Surveyor Ramesh, Deputy Tehsildar Vijaykumar, Vijayawada Rural Tehsildar Jahnavi, and Vijayawada Registrar Nageswara Rao. All of these officials have already faced suspension by the state government in response to the ongoing investigation.
