Jaishankar responded to a question at an interaction at the Indian Institute of Management in Mumbai by stating that the Indian Navy has deployed ten ships in the region. Following the attack on merchant navy vessels in the Red Sea and the deployment of Indian Navy ships in the region, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated on Tuesday that India’s stronger capabilities, own interests, and reputation today demand that it genuinely help in difficult situations.

India’s greater capability, our interest, and our reputation today warrant that we actually help out in difficult situations, he added. We will not be considered a responsible country if bad things are happening around our neighborhood and we say I have got nothing to do with this, said Mr. Jaishankar.

Regarding the ‘India Out’ campaign in the Maldives, Mr. Jaishankar stated that neighbors ultimately depend on one another. He emphasized that history and geography wield immense influence, and there’s no escaping that reality.

Notably, the Indian warship INS Sumitra rescued 19 Pakistani fishermen when their Iranian-flagged vessel was ambushed by pirates off the east coast of Somalia, officials reported on Tuesday.
