YSRCP Leaders Resignations Spark Political Shifts in Ap

Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) YSRCP Leaders of Andhra Pradesh (AP) politics is witnessing changes in dimensions at a very fast pace and the recent happenings in the forms of welfare schemes and bifurcation developments make them more noteworthy. Significantly two out of them are Rajya Sabha MPs namely Mopidevi Venkataramana and Beda Mastan Rao due to whose quitting Rajya Sabha we witnessed amazing scenes of resignation and now these two are planning to meet Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar for quitting through proper channel. These are likely to cause more political reshuffles within the state especially when the ruling coalition government marks its 100 days in office.

Rising Political Tensions and Speculations

The political atmosphere in AP remained fairly stable and is surging quickly as there is a buzz on the switch over to TDP by some of the YSRCP Leaders. Such speculation got further firmed when YSRCP MLC Potula Sunitha tendered her resignation from the party and her legislative assignment as well. She has even written her letter of resignation to the Chairman of the Legislative Council thus adding to the speculations of imminent mass desertion.

Potula Sunitha has said that she will soon reveal her plans regarding her next career move and her resignation seems to be the gateway to what many are now anticipating as a political-bandwagon effect where many political leaders and members of the YSRCP will follow suit.

In concordance with the these changes,YSRCP MPs Mopidevi Venkataramana and Beda Mastan Rao are also likely to quit both their parliamentary positions as well as their current party. It has reportedly taken them the whole day to prepare to resign and finalize their resignation they arrived in Delhi the previous night and meet the Rajya Sabha Chairman at 12:30 PM today. Since their resignation, it is expected that both the MPs will be joining the TDP in the presence of Nara Lokesh, the party’s national general secretary on 05th September and 06th September respectively.

Internal Turmoil within YSRCP

This sequence of events has brought focus on the internal state in the YSRCP, which as of now is going through a lot of internal unrest. Hostility erupted when former minister of the Eluru district Alla Nani stepped down from the party; more leaders started to slip away from the party. His resignation gives rise to speculation of other leaders resigning as well especially MP Mopidevi Venkataramana. But Venkataramana had not started scheming, when Potula Sunitha made a shocking decision to resign, which left many wondering if others would also revolt.and more YSRCP Leaders are going to resign to party.

Chandrababu Naidu’s Ethical Statement on Defections

In these regard, it drew a lot of attention on how TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu has positioned himself on the issue of defections. Naidu has been quoted to have said that anyone who wants to defect from the YSRCP must first demist themselves from office indicating that there will not be any compromise on ethical standards in the matter of political realignments. This meant that the TDP was going to be selective about who they wanted in membership book since its leader Naidu was aspiring to uphold high ethical standards.

Vijayasai Reddy’s Rebuttal to Defection Rumors

On this front YSRCP Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy has also started trending a tweet indicating to the rumors being made rounds that he would be the next one joining the TDP. I have concerned about the rumors that I am planning to join in BJP and quit from the YSRCP, he strongly replied No for such rumors and denying such fake propaganda. He also declared that he will remain loyal to YSRCP and the party’s head Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and will be following Jagan’s commands only.

Implications for Andhra Pradesh’s Political Future

These have uncovered the fact that politics of the AP has variable, especially in concerning the loyalty to a specific party and affiliation to certain allies. And if some more high profile leaders jump from the YSRCP to the TDP it would definitely bring a major change till the first hundred day of the coalition government. It remains to be seen as to how the resignations are going to be managed in the future and the effect that they can have on the politics of Andhra Pradesh.
