US Hindu temple: The Hindu American Foundation demanded that the incident be investigated as a hate crime after a Hindu temple in Newark, California, was defaced with pro-Khalistani slogans.

In California, the US, a Hindu temple was defaced with pro-Khalistani slogans. The incident occurred in the city of Newark.

The Hindu American Foundation shared photos of slogans scrawled on the walls of the Swaminarayan Mandir Vasana Sanstha on X.

On the temple’s wall, images showed hateful slogans against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The foundation insisted that the incident be investigated as a hate crime and said it had been reported to the Newark Police Department and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division.

The Indian Consulate in San Francisco condemned the vandalism of the Swaminarayan Mandir Vasana Sanstha and said it has pressed US authorities for a prompt investigation and action against the perpetrators.

We strongly condemn the anti-India graffiti on the SMVS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Newark, California. This incident has harmed the Indian community’s feelings. We have pressed the US authorities in this matter for a prompt investigation and action against the vandals, the Indian Consulate in San Francisco wrote on X.

This was not the first time a Hindu temple in the United States had been vandalized. Such incidents have occurred in the country as well as in neighboring Canada in the past.

Recently, extremists vandalized a temple in Canada’s Surrey city in the middle of the night.

Posters for a public gathering were pasted on the temple’s main door, highlighting the death of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
