Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s Assurance to Musi Residents that Government Will Stand by Evacuees

The chief minister of Telangana, Mr.Revanth Reddy gave a good statement in response to the problem by promising the residents of Musi River that the government will fully support and protect everyone being displaced by these developments. Speaking at a program held to celebrate the birth anniversary of former Union minister Gaddam Venkataswamy popularly known as Kaka the CM said he was committed to the people and opposed attempts by opponents for causing unrest.

Government Support for Musi Evacuees

Revanth Reddy clarified that there would be no one left in the lurch due to the new Musi River project, and the government would make sure that people who lost their livelihood due to it are provided for. He spoke to Musi residents and told them not to despair as the government was in the process of finding a resolution to their relocation issue. The CM emphasized that his government is set on people’s welfare most especially on residents living in areas prone to risks.

The CM accused the opposition leaders of inciting the public, which he said, was their only prerogative to safeguard their interests, particularly the farmhouses. He called on the public to ignore the “drama” of the opposition parties and to rely on the government being a reasonable and responsible actor that has the public interest at heart.

Plans for Musi Riverfront Development

According to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, there are long-term strategies of the government for the safety of Hyderabad from the threats imposed by the Musi River which include more importance to the rejuvenation of the riverfront for people neglecting the fact that there are people without basic needs fulfilled. He asked the opposition leaders especially Etela Rajender and others how those affected could be helped — whether through monetary returns, housing, or government land for rehabilitation.

As far as the problems concerning the Musi River project are concerned, Revanth Reddy appealed for solidarity and said that leaders of all the parties such as Etela Rajender, KTR, and Harish Rao should come up with practical interventions. He also spoke of the environmental and poll public health risks associated with the river, particularly to areas such as the Nalgonda district that has been on the receiving end of pollution from the river. The CM noted his government’s stand concerning the reconstruction of the Musi River and the enhancement of the standard of living of the residents of the affected regions.

Allegations Against the Previous Government

The Telangana CM leveled very serious allegations against the previous dispensation on the issue specifically against KCR’s family wherein they accused the KCR’s family of making billions through the Kaleshwaram irrigation scheme. Revanth Reddy complained that the current Musi River problem could have been solved for a small amount that was embezzled by the KCR government, and said that Rs 10,000 crores would have been enough to take care of all evacuees.

Even the opposition leader in the Gujarat assembly, Revanth also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had shifted 64000 families during the Sabarmati riverfront development and had paid compensation to only 16000 families. He particularly charged that the leaders have a lot of stake in the Musi Riverfront project to resist any initiative towards the project.

Call for Financial Contributions from Political Leaders

In a bold move, Revanth Reddy demanded that the ruling BRS party allocate Rs 500 crores from its Rs 1,500 crore budget to support the victims of the Musi River project. He further suggested that KCR donate 500 acres from his 1,000-acre property in Gajwel to build housing for the poor and that KTR offer half of his 50-acre farmhouse in Janwada for the same purpose. The CM accused both leaders of accumulating vast assets since 2009 and argued that it was their responsibility to give back to the people.

Revanth Reddy also proposed relocating the Hyderabad Race Club and the Police Academy in Amberpet to make room for new housing developments for the displaced. He announced that a special committee would be formed to ensure justice for the affected residents, naming prominent leaders like Etela Rajender, KTR, Harish Rao, and Ponnam Prabhakar as members of the committee.

Revanth Reddy’s Response to KTR’s Criticism

CM Revanth Reddy responded sharply to recent comments made by KTR, particularly regarding the government’s loan waiver program for farmers. KTR had criticized the program for not benefiting all farmers, but Revanth clarified that loans up to two lakhs had been waived, and any remaining amount would be forgiven if farmers settled the difference.

The CM reassured farmers that they should trust the government’s commitment to resolving their issues and encouraged them to approach local officials if they faced any problems. He accused BRS leaders of relying too heavily on social media to win public support rather than addressing real issues.

Ministerial Post for Vivek Venkataswamy?

In addition to his remarks about the Musi River project, Revanth Reddy also addressed speculation about a potential ministerial post for Chennuru MLA Gaddam Vivek. He acknowledged the Venkataswamy family’s significant role in Telangana politics and confirmed that their contributions would be recognized by the government.

About the formation of Telangana, Revanth remembered how Gaddam Venkataswamy stood instrumental in the formation of the state and cooperation with Sonia Gandhi and Pranab Mukherjee. He said that Venkataswamy has contributed to achieving 42 MLA seats and five MP seats for the TRS in the initial stage of the formation of the party, but now has no importance in the party as KCR has come to power.

The CM also saw it prudent to reassert his support to the Pranahita Chevella project that he said was mooted by Venkataswamy, to begin with. He denounced the Kaleshwaram project which was started by KCR saying bluntly that it was a failure and had come crumbling down due to corruption and had failed miserably.

Conclusion

The speech by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy focused on his Government’s commitment to dealing with the Musi River inhabitants and rehabilitation of the dwellers. His remarks also revealed political smart crutches in the Telangana political environment as the CM continues to thrash the opposition while striving to ensure the welfare of the citizenry. That is why Revanth Reddy describes himself as a leader ready to make powerful decisions in favor of the poor and perspectives of Hyderabad city.
