On June 24, the state cabinet unanimously approved the launch of the skill census program. Meanwhile, many individuals are curious as to what this program is about. This is everything you need to know about it.

India, with a significant youth population, faces substantial unemployment, particularly in states like Andhra Pradesh. Despite possessing skills, many individuals encounter a lack of opportunities. Conversely, some young people lack the specific skills required for certain jobs. Implementing a skill census could effectively bridge this gap.

To tackle unemployment effectively, conducting a program among young people is crucial. The government aims to document individuals’ skills, facilitating targeted job placements or necessary training to match their skill sets.

In the state, there are 516 vocational and ITI colleges, 267 polytechnic colleges, 1400 degree colleges, and 310 engineering colleges. Every year, almost 4.4 lakh students graduate from these colleges, yet only a small percentage of them get employment.
