Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has recently made some provocative statements, suggesting that whether or not one is considered divine is a matter for the people to decide, and that such claims will not come from him. Bhagwat’s remarks were made during a meeting in Pune on Friday, organized to honor Shankar Dinkar, popularly known as Bhaiyyaji. Bhaiyyaji was a prominent figure in educational reform since 1971, dedicating his efforts to providing education for all and bringing students to Maharashtra for their studies.

Critique of Immediate Recognition and the Role of RSS Workers

In his speech, Mohan Bhagwat addressed the issue of seeking immediate recognition, criticizing those who desire to make a sudden impact. He noted that such ambitions often lead to greater difficulties and emphasized that RSS workers should act with humility and purpose, much like lamps that provide light in dark times. Bhagwat praised the efforts of RSS volunteers who have worked tirelessly under challenging conditions in Manipur, a state severely affected by communal violence. The clashes in Manipur have resulted in the deaths of approximately 200 people and left 60,000 displaced.

Security Concerns and RSS Efforts in Manipur

The situation in Manipur is dire, marked by a severe lack of security and growing concerns among locals. Bhagwat highlighted the difficulties faced by those involved in business or social work in the state. Despite these challenges, he commended the RSS workers for their dedication and their attempts to address the severe issues in the region. Bhagwat explained that the RSS’s involvement was crucial in trying to stabilize the situation and prevent further division of the state during the ongoing conflict.

He also mentioned that the RSS’s efforts to manage the crisis in Manipur were not just about providing immediate relief but were part of a broader strategy to restore stability and order in the region. Bhagwat noted that these efforts were also discussed during the Maharashtra assembly elections, where the RSS’s actions were used to influence the vote bank.

Overall, Bhagwat’s comments reflect a broader agenda of highlighting the RSS’s role in addressing critical issues and stabilizing conflict-ridden areas, while also managing perceptions of its involvement in regional politics and social work.
