Revised NEET UG 2024 Results Announced

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the revised NEET UG 2024 results on July 26, updating the ranks for all students. Due to a revision in the marking scheme for a physics question, approximately 4.2 lakh students lost 5 marks, leading to changes in their ranks. Consequently, while some students saw their ranks improve, others experienced a decline. This update comes after the results had already been declared three times due to issues including paper leakage and irregularities.

Impact on Telangana Students

In Telangana, 15 students have lost their eligibility as a result of these changes. Initially, 47,371 students were declared qualified in the results released on June 4, but this number slightly decreased to 47,356 in the latest results. The adjustment has led to shifts in ranks: for instance, Anuran Ghosh’s rank changed from 77th to 137th nationally, and Gugulot Venkatanripesh’s rank in the ST category dropped from 1st to 219th. Conversely, Ekambaram Kaushik improved from a rank of 43,802 to 40,691.

Supreme Court’s Influence on Final Results

The final results of NEET UG 2024 Revised Ranks were released following a Supreme Court order, which instructed NTA to use a revised answer key. Initially, two correct answers were accepted for a particular physics question, but the court’s expert committee recommended recognizing only one answer. This adjustment affected the distribution of marks—students who answered incorrectly lost 5 marks, while those with the correct answer gained 4 marks. As a result, some students saw changes in their ranks and cutoff scores, creating uncertainty for those near the cut-off for MBBS admissions.
