Media reports: In an unusual political episode, Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, has gone missing for the past 24 hours. According to several media reports, the CM’s phone is switched off and his whereabouts are unknown. Soren has been on the Enforcement Directorate’s radar for several months, and the investigating agency is on a quest to track him down. Fearing ED action, the CM is believed to be on the run.
The ED has stated that they have no idea where the CM is, and even his staff’s phones are turned off. The chartered plane he flew to Delhi is now parked, and no further logs exist. The ED has confiscated the CM’s BMW automobile in Delhi and is searching for him, but they have no idea where he is right now. Soren’s party, Mukti Morcha, has stated that the CM is safe and sound. The party announced that Soren was in contact with them.
In the ED investigation, Soren is suspected of being involved in an unlawful land mafia deal in which land belonging to the Indian Army was registered under false names for others. The ED arrested 14 people in connection with the matter and called CM Soren to appear for questioning. As the investigation nears its conclusion, the CM has gone missing. According to the latest sources, the ED received a letter from Soren’s office indicating that he will attend the investigation after 1 p.m. today.
