On Sunday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee leveled accusations against the ruling BJP, alleging a conspiracy against herself and her nephew, Abhishek Banerjee. She expressed concerns about their safety, asserting that they “do not feel secure.” Additionally, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader asserted that the BJP was specifically aiming its attacks at her and the TMC’s General Secretary.
While addressing an election rally in Balurghat, Mamata Banerjee urged Trinamool Congress leaders, workers, and the people of West Bengal to remain vigilant.
The BJP is focusing its efforts on targeting both me and Abhishek. While we don’t feel entirely secure, we refuse to be intimidated by the saffron party’s schemes. We call upon everyone to stay vigilant against any conspiracy aimed at TMC leaders and the people of West Bengal, she asserted.
Mamata Banerjee’s comment followed a statement by BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, who hinted at a significant event scheduled for Monday that could potentially disrupt the TMC and its leadership.
In a strong rebuke to Adhikari, Mamata Banerjee remarked, “There’s a turncoat who switched to the BJP to shield his family and ill-gotten riches. Let me make it clear, his warning about triggering a ‘chocolate bomb’ explosion is utterly dismissed by us.”
“We’ll counter him with firecrackers. For us, firecrackers are revealing inconsistencies in the PM Care Fund and the ‘jumla’ of crediting Rs 15 lakh to each citizen’s bank account. “He only spreads lies,” she remarked.
The Chief Minister further accused the Modi administration of painting independent organizations like Doordarshan in saffron colors and criticized the BJP for changing the color of the Doordarshan logo. Additionally, she said that the BJP’s “appropriating the color” was an insult to the long-standing sacrifices made by the nation’s spiritual leaders and monks.
Why did the DD logo change to saffron so quickly? Why were army personnel’s official houses painted saffron? She asked, Why was the police uniform in Kashi (Varanasi) changed to saffron?

“We vehemently disagree with the decision (to alter the DD logo’s color). This is just one more example of the autocratic control of the BJP. There won’t be any more polls if it takes back control. The religious liberties of many communities will be in jeopardy, and there will be a single man and one party in power, Mamata Banerjee continued.
