Haryana: Manohar Lal Khattar resigned as Haryana chief minister on March 12, just hours after the BJP’s partnership with the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) fell up. The BJP claims that it has 41 MLAs and five Independent candidates, bringing it above the halfway threshold of 45 seats in the assembly.

The JJP is led by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala. The party has ten MLAs in the Haryana assembly.

Following a meeting with CM Khattar, independent MLA Nayan Pal Rawat reported that the BJP-JJP coalition was dissolving. However, the Khattar government will survive due to the support of several independent MLAs, he stated.

“I met the Chief Minister yesterday. We have previously expressed our support for the CM Manohar Lal-led government. We also discussed how the Lok Sabha elections will be conducted. “I got the impression that the process of breaking the alliance with JJP had already begun,” Rawat stated on March 12.

In the most recent Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, the BJP secured all ten seats. The issue that divided the JJP and the saffron party was who would share seats in the next Lok Sabha Elections of 2024.

There are ten Lok Sabha seats in Haryana; the BJP intended to run for nine of them and award the JJP one. JJP, however, desired to fight from two opposing constituencies.

Previous claims made by Gopal Kanda, an MLA for the Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP), were that the BJP could win all 10 Lok Sabha seats on its own.

Major changes in the Haryana government

According to PTI sources, the Haryana administration is about to undergo significant changes. Senior party leaders have not spoken on the matter, thus it is unclear what kind of change is to be expected.
