Before the Asia Cup 2023 action begins, former India spinner and 2011 World Cup champion Harbhajan Singh has chosen his Indian side for the continental event-Harbhajan Singh Names Indian Squad
The Asia Cup event is planned to begin on August 30th, 2023. The continental competition also includes the mother of all fights, the India vs. Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match, which will be played on September 2 in Pallekele, Sri Lanka. This year’s Asia Cup will be contested in 50-overs (One-Day Internationals) format, with a hybrid competition style. Pakistan will host four matches, while the rest nine, including the final, will be held in Sri Lanka.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to name their squad for the 2023 Asia Cup. According to Cricbuzz, the board wants to observe how Jasprit Bumrah performs in the first T20I between India and Ireland. Other injured talents, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who are crucial to India’s ODI World Cup 2023 preparations, are anticipated to regain full health ahead of the Asia Cup 2023 and may be included to India’s team. According to TOI, the BCCI is scheduled to unveil India’s Asia Cup roster on August 20 (Sunday).
Harbhajan Singh picks 15-member Indian squad for 2023 Asia Cup
Prior to the start of the Asia Cup 2023, former India spinner and 2011 World Cup champion Harbhajan Singh selected his Indian side for the continental event.
The experienced spinner has chosen Tilak Varma, who just made a spectacular debut in the IND against WI T20Is. Suryakumar Yadav, who now averages less than 12 runs per innings, has been selected by Harbhajan to bat in the middle order. The three spinners on Harbhajan’s India lineup for the Asia Cup 2023 are Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal. Hardik Pandya was chosen as a fast-bowling all-rounder.
Harbhajan has also selected KL Rahul, who has not played international cricket since May 2023.
“He is a proven player, and if you want to see him in the World Cup squad, this is the right time to bring him back,” Harbhajan explained.
