Election Commission: On Thursday, the Election Commission accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi violated the model code of conduct.

The Election Commission took cognizance on Thursday of alleged model code of conduct violations by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The poll commission has requested comments from the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party by April 29.

The Election Commission, in its communication to BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda, stated that star campaigners are anticipated to enhance the quality of dialogue, including by offering a nationwide perspective that can occasionally be skewed amidst the intensity of local-level competitions.

The EC asked Nadda to inform all of his party’s top campaigners about the high standards of political speech that are required of them. It requested that the BJP chief respond by 11 a.m. on April 29 to the allegations filed by the Congress, CPI, and CPI (ML).

The Congress and two other opposition parties complained with the EC regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement made in Banswara, Rajasthan. During a rally, the prime minister remarked, The Congress manifesto mentions the calculation of gold involving mothers and sisters, and then the distribution of that property. To whom will they distribute it? The government led by Manmohan Singh had stated that Muslims have the primary right to the country’s assets.

Previously, when their (Congress) government was in power, they had stated that Muslims have the primary claim on the country’s assets. This implies that to whom will this property be allocated? It will go to those who have more children. It will go to infiltrators. Do you agree that your hard-earned money should go to infiltrators? Modi stated.

The Election Commission, in its correspondence with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, similarly instructed him to communicate the expectations regarding the quality of discourse to the party’s star campaigners. Additionally, it included a copy of the complaint filed by the BJP against Gandhi.

The BJP cited passages from Rahul Gandhi’s alleged speech in Kerala’s Kottayam, where he purportedly stated, When a daughter graduates from a university, her parents congratulate her in Malayalam. When a brother mourns the loss of another brother, he communicates in Malayalam. Therefore, Kerala embodies Malayalam, and Malayalam embodies Kerala.

I hear the Prime Minister using things like ‘one nation, one language, and one religion’ in addresses. How can you advise Keralans to stop speaking Malayalam and Tamil speakers to stop speaking Tamil? He supposedly stated.
