Delhi Lok Sabha Elections: Delhi is gearing up for the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, set for Saturday, May 25th. Congress has allied with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as part of the INDIA bloc, intending to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The national capital will vote in a single phase across all seven constituencies, marking the penultimate phase of the elections.

On the day of voting, the national capital’s authorities have put in place many measures, such as a 48-hour prohibition on alcohol sales.

What is open and closed on election day is as follows:

Liquor stores

All licensed establishments and liquor outlets in Delhi and the surrounding districts, such as Faridabad and Gurgaon, will be closed on May 25th, according to a notification from the excise department. This instruction complies with directives from the Indian Election Commission.

On May 25, the closure will be in place until 6:00 p.m. Since May 23, at 6:00 p.m., the instructions have been in force. Furthermore, June 4, the day of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 results, is a national holiday on which alcohol sales are forbidden.

Banks

In addition, on May 25, the fourth Saturday of the month, banks will be closed. The Reserve Bank of India announced a bank holiday in a few places during the fifth phase.

Delhi Schools

It should be mentioned that the heatwave has forced the capital city’s schools to close. As a result, the Delhi government ordered all private schools to begin their summer break right away.

Bus service

To help with transportation to and from Delhi polling places, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) Will run more bus offerings on 35 routes starting at 4 a.m. on May 25. In a similar vein, 46 routes will be serviced by the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd (DIMTS).

Delhi Metro

The national capital’s election day, May 25, will see the start of metro train service on all lines at 4 a.m., according to a statement from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

“On the day of the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi on May 25, Delhi Metro train services on all lines will start at 4 a.m. so that the staff deployed for election duty can avail the facility,” reads a post on the official DMRC states on X. Trains will operate at a 30-minute interval on all lines until six in the morning.

It continues, saying, “Until 6:00 AM, trains will run on all lines at a frequency of 30 minutes. Regular Metro train service will resume after 6:00 AM and continue all day (SIC).

Although there hasn’t been a traffic warning for the polling day from Delhi Traffic Police yet, one was released on May 24 and said, “Due to the Lok Sabha Elections of 2024, there will be traffic restrictions on May 24, 2024. ” Please heed the advice.
