Sam Pitroda: Following Sam Pitroda’s reappointment as the head of the Indian Overseas Congress, the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh strongly criticized the Congress, labeling the action as “unacceptable.”

TDP Chittur MP Prasad Rao D told India Today that Pitroda’s remarks, suggesting that Indians in the East resemble the Chinese and those in the South look like Africans, were deemed “racist.”

Prasad Rao stated, “The Congress appointing Sam Pitroda to a political role is unacceptable. His remarks were unequivocally racist and not taken out of context.”

Amit Malviya, the chairman of the IT cell for the BJP, expressed his disapproval of the development by declaring that the “tormentor of the middle class is back”. “Congress deceives India and promptly reinstates Sam Pitroda following the elections. “Hua toh Hua,” tweeted Malviya.

The BJP asserted in a different tweet that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had foreseen Sam Pitroda’s reinstatement by the Congress following the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP stated on X that as Prime Minister Modi had predicted, the Congress’ dismissal of Sam Pitroda was just a political tactic.

After his reinstatement, Pitroda, in an exclusive interview with India Today TV, stated that he resigned from the post due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi distorting his statements for political advantage.

Sam Pitroda defended his remarks, asserting they were not intended to be racist. “Perhaps the comparison wasn’t ideal. I’m human and entitled to make mistakes,” he stated.

Pitroda resigned from his position on May 8 after making a series of provocative statements during the Lok Sabha elections, which enraged the BJP.

While discussing diversity and democracy in India, Pitroda remarked that people in South India “resemble Africans”, those in the West “resemble Arabs”, and those in the East “resemble Chinese”.

Days later, Pitroda made waves again when he mentioned the inheritance tax in the United States while addressing the Congress’s election agenda. The BJP accused the Congress of planning to transfer the people’s riches.
