Who is going to be at the rally?

Senior AAP leader Gopal Rai declared that clearance from the authorities to hold the rally—which is anticipated to attract over 20,000 people—has been given. Prominent politicians such as Uddhav Thackeray, Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar, and Rahul Gandhi are anticipated to be present. In addition, participants in the event will include members of the INDIA bloc, including Derek O’Brien of the TMC and Tiruchi Siva of the DMK.

“The Aam Aadmi Party has launched a campaign to distribute invitation letters, aiming for broad participation in the mega rally.”

Why did the AAP plan this demonstration?

The protest is important because it represents a group’s reaction to recent events, such as Kejriwal’s apprehension by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the excise policy case. Rai emphasized the public’s general dissatisfaction with CM Kejriwal’s arrest, with participants anticipated from a wide range of backgrounds.

The rally’s slogan, “tanashahi hatao, desh bachao” (abolish dictatorship, defend the country), emphasizes the AAP’s opposition to autocracy. The party wants to mobilize the public and bring attention to purported political vendettas and the silence of dissenting opinions.

Rai mentioned that they are personally delivering invitation letters door-to-door, encouraging people to peacefully voice their opinions at Ramlila Maidan.

What allegations against the BJP has the Opposition made?

In an attempt to incite unrest and maybe open the door for the imposition of President’s Rule in Delhi, the AAP has accused the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of setting up a scenario.

Additionally, the Congress party has charged the ruling party with unfair practices in the run-up to the general elections. A tax disagreement over-assessments from the ’90s is what prompted Congress to claim that their bank accounts were frozen. A notification for cash totaling Rs 1,823 crore has been given to the party by the income tax department thus far.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren and Chief Minister Kejriwal’s arrests, according to senior Congressman Jairam Ramesh, “is an attack on democracy & our constitution.”

“This is the politics of retaliation in action. The INDIA alliance terrifies the BJP. This is an assault on our constitution and democracy. ‘Nation, No Election’ is the prime minister’s only thought. One-person dictatorship, or OPD, governs the entire nation, according to Ramesh.

What reaction has the BJP given?

Even while the ruling BJP has played down accusations of political retaliation, they nevertheless believe that anyone who commits corruption should be held responsible. This week, the party staged a counter-protest, claiming that Kejriwal could not continue to serve as chief minister while incarcerated and calling for his resignation.
