Tribute to Martyrs

In connection with the Police Martyrs Commemoration Day, CM Chandrababu Naidu visited Vijayawada to pay his sincere homage at the Martyrs Stupa. He was joined by AP Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha & AP DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao who along with them received a police salute for the martyrs. Delivering his speech at the event, Naidu said that he wanted to convey deep thanks for the efforts that the police officers make to defend the country. He brought out how some officials fought bravely against the communal forces like the officers Umesh Chandra and Vedavyas and pointed out the government continues to support the families of such heroes.

Addressing Crime and Violence Against Women

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu discussed a concern of the society that sexual harassment and violence against women would not be allowed. He promised to work on every reported case as a problematic task stressing that the government is ready to deliver a legal punishment for miscreants. Naidu called on parents to be more vigilant as a way of minimizing the number of children who fall into the wrong hands. He particularly pointed to the previous statement the government has made regarding its desire to inflict stringent penalties on the criminal in the recent Hindupur gang rape and murder.

To bolster police capacity, Chandrababu Naidu announced plans for new constable appointments and highlighted the annual financial support of ₹20 crores allocated to the police department. He also proposed that future commemorations for Police Martyrs Memorial Day take place in Amaravati, where a permanent Martyrs Memorial Stupa will be constructed to honor the fallen officers.

Advancements in Technology

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of technology in modern policing, noting that the AP government is committed to equipping the police force with the latest tools and knowledge. He acknowledged the rapid evolution of criminal tactics, stating that the police must stay ahead by adopting advanced technology to effectively combat crime. “To apprehend criminals, police must possess technology that surpasses that used by offenders,” Chandrababu Naidu remarked, indicating that real-time monitoring could greatly enhance law enforcement capabilities.

The Chief Minister pointed out the historical challenges faced by the police in Rayalaseema and Vijayawada, where issues such as factionalism and rowdyism were prevalent. He stated that the government’s goal is to achieve zero crime rates in the state, emphasizing that peace and security should be the top priority. The message was clear: any inclination to commit a crime should be met with fear of detection and punishment.

Commitment to Police Welfare

Naidu recalled the government’s commitment to the welfare of police personnel, pointing out that much has been done on police reform in the enhancement of their welfare. He assured the public that there is still the government’s commitment and promises of required facilities and infrastructure to the police. ‘This is why it is the government’s business to equip the police with the necessary tools required by them,’ he stated.

Criticism of Past Governance

Chandrababu Naidu also used the occasion to first condemn the previous government of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) which he accused of having used police forces for political purposes only. He rued that the previous government had been reckless with expenditure stating that they had spent a whopping ₹ 700 crores on survey stones and other unnecessary frills and had not spared enough for the police force that too when the force was so needed.

Chandrababu Naidu claimed that the earlier administration had set up an ineffective framework that restricted police personnel from performing their duties efficiently, including denying them leave when needed. He called for a shift towards visible and effective policing, contrasting this with what he described as the invisible policing under the previous government.

Conclusion

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s speech during the Police Martyrs Commemoration Day emphasized the government’s policies on improving safety and security in Andhra Pradesh. For the people’s protection and enhancing the efficiency of officers by utilizing technology and offering appropriate assistance to the police force, Chandrababu Naidu plans to bring amendments.

Elements of his comments about the need to fight crime, primarily, violence against women, correspond to the modern pushes for justice and women protection. org When starting the initiative of having a memorial for the officers who have been killed in the line of duty it will be a way of remembering the sacrifices that the police have made in a bid to maintain law and order. By such commitments, Chandrababu Naidu wants to establish a sound police system that can work for the people of Andhra Pradesh more actively and effectively.
