Pendem Dorababu Departs YCP Amidst Political Shifts in Pithapuram

Political activity in Pithapuram, Kakinada district, continues to intensify. Pawan Kalyan, having secured a resounding victory as an MLA, now plays a crucial role as Deputy Chief Minister, addressing the needs and concerns of his constituents.

Dorababu’s Departure from YCP

Amid these developments, Pendem Dorababu, a senior leader and former MLA from Pithapuram, has announced his departure from the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress (YCP). Dorababu has expressed his intention to contribute to the constituency’s development without seeking any official position, citing his desire to do justice to the party cadre as his reason for the shift.

Reasons for Departure and Past Political Engagements

Dorababu, who had previously stayed with YCP despite an offer from Janasena before the last election, was promised a ticket in a different constituency but did not receive one. His decision to remain with YCP was influenced by his commitment to the people of Pithapuram. However, reports suggest a lack of harmony between Dorababu and Vanga Geetha, the YCP candidate from Pithapuram, due to Dorababu’s perceived lack of support.

Historical Political Background

With a 25-year association with the people of Pithapuram, Dorababu has twice been elected as MLA—first in 2004 as a BJP candidate and again in 2019 representing YCP. Despite his hopes of securing a Pithapuram seat again, he has remained silent after feeling neglected by YCP leadership.

Future Plans and Alliance Move

Recognized as a respected and non-controversial figure within the Kapu social group, Dorababu’s departure from YCP comes amid dissatisfaction over ticket allocations. He has recently resigned from the party and announced his intention to join the alliance, indicating that he is in contact with alliance leaders. Dorababu also revealed that he and his senior cadre will be joining the alliance soon.
