YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh has worsened and there had been an increase in atrocious incidents against women. Addressing a public gathering he blamed the state government and his ruling party for being insensitive enough to show concern over the increasing incidence of crimes against women.
‘Even, there is no security for women in the state,’ Jagan commented, pointing out that all the government leaders remained cold to brutal acts of rape and murder. For instance, Jagan said that in cases of heinous crimes, the government has not acted as it should have, and now leaders of the ruling party are protecting the accused. The channel hosted a young man who accused the leaders of being absent from their duties saying that they cared more about politicking than reporting crimes perpetrated against women.
Brutal Crimes in Badvel and Palasa Highlight Lawlessness
Besides, Jagan gave few such examples to show that women are not safe at all. In Badvel a sixteen years old girl was raped by a man who later poured petrol on her and burnt her. The experience of the event has caused some people to be outraged over the fate of the victim. Sometimes I get so frustrated in terms of police response and government we as a society never protected a minor girl from such brutality,” Jagan said.
He also mentioned another outrageous case that happened in Palasa, Srikakulam district, two girls were allegedly given something and were raped under the guise of taking them to a birthday party. It was said that the culprits used drugs put in the cooler which the victims were promised when they were attacked. Forcing some of them to undress and then recording themselves having it in what the attackers called a celebration – these were Reddy’s words.

The former CM also lashed the TDP over a case reported in Pithapuram, where it alleged that a 16-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped. Jagan said the girl was drugged by the husband of a TDP corporator and was taken in an auto-rickshaw to a secluded area and raped her.

He was speaking particularly at the waste paper collectors when he said it was horrifying to think what could have happened had they not intervened when they did. Jagan also said the accused used to boast of influences with high-profile politicians. Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Fails to Support Victims
Using even the harshest of words, Jagan Mohan Reddy accused Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan of negligence in the cases within his constituency. Kalyan added that he failed to go to the victim’s house after the incident happened in his area, nor did he offer any form of consolation as noted by Jagan.

He also used words of disappointment because the current political leaders do not care for victims of abuse but defend accused individuals and fail in their responsibility to correct injustice. Gang Rape During Dussehra in Hindupuram Ignored by Local Leaders
The YCP leader also recalled an incident during the Dussehra festival festival in Hindupuram where a woman was reported to have been gang raped. For instance, the police did not arrest the accused for offenses for three days following the crime, something which elicited lambasting from Reddy.
This angered him and he briefly faulted the police for acting slowly and seemingly meaning less is the law enforcement agencies.
