The ongoing search is for the 19 unaccounted-for missing people. 17 of the 23 people that perished in the flood were Nepalese.
The body of the fourth missing individual from the August 3 Gaurikund landslide disaster, in which 23 people were swept away, was found on Thursday by the Uttarakhand State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
The remaining 19 missing people, who are assumed dead, are being searched for. 17 of the 23 individuals that perished in the flood were Nepalese.
The SDRF media lead According to Lalita Negi, on Thursday morning, rescue crews performing the search effort discovered a second body downriver from the Mandakini River. “The body has been identified as Veer Bahadur, a Nepalese national,” she continued.
About a kilometer above the Kedarnath temple, the Chorabari glacier is whence Mandakini gets its name. It receives nourishment from Sonprayag’s Vasukiganga and joins Alakananda there. Alakananda merges with Bhagirathi at Devprayag (through Srinagar) to form the Ganga River.
